Janellen Smith

Janellen Smith, MD is a Professor and Director of OncoDermatology Research at the Department of Dermatology, UC Irvine School of Medicine. Her clinical focus includes atypical mole syndrome, geriatric dermatology, and melanoma, with significant contributions to understanding dermatologic manifestations of medical conditions and immune-related adverse events.

Her recent research explores the intersection of skin cancer and oncological treatments, including studies on amivantamab, EGFR inhibitors, and multiphoton microscopy for skin imaging. She leads clinical trials such as the phase IIa study of topical HT-001 for EGFRi-related skin toxicities.

Scientific Awards include recognition by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. (2013) and Best Doctors in America® (multiple years). As a mentor, she actively involves residents and medical students in patient care, emphasizing educational collaboration.
