Le Yu

Le Yu is a faculty member at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) with the academic rank of Professor of Marimba and Professor in Percussion. As a globally recognized soloist, chamber musician, and educator, he has collaborated with renowned artists such as Keiko Abe, Dame Evelyn Glennie, and Michael Burritt. Since 2016, he has served as a soloist for the World Percussion Group and became an Associate Member of RNCM in 2020.

• His performance highlights include engagements with orchestras like the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, and Manchester Camerata.
• He founded the Aurora Percussion Duo with Delia Stevens, which performed for the Royal Family and at major international festivals.

Le Yu’s research and performance interests center on percussion techniques, marimba repertoire, chamber music dynamics, and cross-cultural musical collaboration. His accolades include multiple international competition wins, such as the Gold Medal at China’s National Youth Percussion Competition and the Best Percussion Award at World Brass in Concert (2012).
