Lazaros Tzounis

Lazaros Tzounis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Hellenic Mediterranean University, appointed in 2021. His academic journey includes a PhD from the Technical University of Dresden and postdoctoral research at Leibniz Institute for Polymer Research (Germany), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and University of Ioannina, supported by a Bodossaki Foundation Scholarship (2016–2019).

His research spans additive manufacturing, sustainable materials, and renewable energy systems, with specialization in 3D-printed nanocomposites, thermoelectric generators, and carbon nanotube applications. He integrates lifecycle analysis for eco-friendly solutions and explores printed electronics via roll-to-roll processes.

Award highlights include:

• Bodossaki Foundation Scholarship (2016–2019)
• Best Poster Award at the 6th International Conference on Carbon NanoParticle Based Composites (2013)
• 1st Prize for Oral Presentation at the 13th Congress of the Surgical Society of Northern Greece

He supervises 2 postgraduate and 1 doctoral student and has secured funding for 4 Greek (NSRF) and 3 EU projects (FP7/H2020). Courses taught encompass core mechanical engineering subjects, prosthetics, and biomechanics.
