Dr. Zipse specializes in adult neurogenic communication disorders, particularly aphasia and apraxia of speech (AOS). Her research explores music-based therapies, prosodic and rhythmic processing in speech, and cognitive assessments tailored for stroke and brain injury survivors. Current projects investigate the efficacy of music-based therapy components, auditory feedback mechanisms in speech monitoring, prosodic retention in agrammatic aphasia, and stroke cognition assessment appropriateness.
As an educator, she coordinates the master’s thesis program and mentors both undergraduate and graduate students in her lab. While no specific awards are mentioned, her work is disseminated through presentations at major conferences like the Clinical Aphasiology Conference and ASHA Convention. She advocates for theory-driven clinical practice, emphasizing adaptive treatment customization in rehabilitation.
