Laurie LaPorte

Laurie LaPorte is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Boston University, affiliated with the Metropolitan College. Her expertise spans cultural anthropology, migration patterns, globalization impacts, gender dynamics, and African Studies with a regional focus on Cape Verde.

Her research investigates how transnational migration shapes cultural identities in globalized contexts, particularly examining gender roles and diasporic communities in West Africa. Current work explores Cape Verdean migrant networks and their socio-cultural transformations.
