Dr Laurent Perge is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, coordinating the Group Business Design Project unit. He holds affiliations with The Foundry: Centre for Digital, Manufacturing & Design, Centre for Integrated Materials (IMPS), Centre for Regenerative Design (RENEW), Innovation Bridge, and the Centre for Bioengineering & Biomedical Technologies (CBio). He previously served as a visiting researcher in Chemical Engineering at Bath (2019) and held roles in innovation advising and circular business strategy. Laurent holds a PhD from Ecole Nationale de Chimie de Montpellier (France, 2011) and an MBA from the University of Bath School of Management (2023).
His research focuses on biobased materials, regenerative economies, and sustainable business models. Key projects include the Identifying the Elephant initiative (2023-2024), exploring participatory design and sustainable construction materials. He actively collaborates with European industries and academic institutions, bridging engineering with entrepreneurship.
Research outputs span advanced materials analysis (e.g., Ti-6Al-4V alloy deformation studies) and pharmaceutical innovations like electrospraying crystallization techniques. He mentors PhD candidates in interdisciplinary topics such as biobased material design and circular economy frameworks.
