Lauren Redhead

Dr. Lauren Redhead is a Reader in 20th and 21st Century Music at Goldsmiths, University of London. She leads the Department of Music as Co-Head, oversees Undergraduate studies, and chairs the Learning and Teaching Committee. Her research focuses on music aesthetics, semiotics, and experimental composition, with a strong emphasis on practice research methodologies. Redhead actively composes experimental music for organ and electronics, and her works are published by Material Press and released on prominent labels like pan y Rosas and SFZ Music. She has supervised 9 current PhD students and examined at multiple UK institutions. Key projects include collaborations on live-interactive music for organ and electronics, and methodological critiques of practice-based research. Redhead’s teaching spans modules like 'Approaches to Contemporary Music' and 'Philosophies of Music' at both undergraduate and master’s levels.
