Lauren Midgette is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the Neag School of Education, University of Connecticut. A proud alumna of the Neag School, she works closely with pre-service educators and partner school districts as a clinical instructor.
Education & Background:
- Ph.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University
- Stanford University Fellowships (two awarded)
- Former secondary English teacher at Bulkeley High School, Hartford, CT
Research Focus:
Her scholarship centers on improving support systems for pre-service teachers, designing sustainable professional development programs for alumni educators, and fostering cross-cultural competencies in teacher preparation. She is particularly interested in how literature can be leveraged to cultivate inclusive worldviews across elementary and secondary classrooms.
Professional Roles:
Before joining UConn, she served as a Lead Professional Development Coach at Teachers College’s Center for Professional Education of Teachers, where she continued her work with practicing educators. At UConn, she balances academic responsibilities with hands-on mentorship in partner schools.
Personal Interests:
Outside academia, she enjoys reading with her daughter, walking her dog, and savoring her partner’s culinary creations.
