Kathleen Williamson

Kathleen Williamson is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education. She is also affiliated with the Collaboratory on School and Child Health (CSCH). Her roles include Project Coordinator for the CDC-funded Connecticut WSCC Partnership, which focuses on implementing evidence-based policies and practices aligned with the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model. Dr. Williamson holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UConn, alongside multiple advanced certificates in School Psychology and Positive Behavior Support. Her research interests center on cost analysis of multi-tiered interventions, adolescent mental health, and school wellness policies.

Dr. Williamson’s educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary/Special Education from Saint Joseph’s University (Philadelphia, PA) and advanced degrees from UConn. She is a nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) and holds Connecticut educator certification in School Psychology. Her teaching responsibilities include courses in the Neag School’s School Psychology Program and the Teacher Certification Program for College Graduates.

Her research spans topics such as school-wide wellness initiatives, mental health training for school staff, and the application of cost-analysis frameworks to educational interventions. Recent work includes exploring mental health training requirements for high school coaches and analyzing the implementation of WSCC-aligned policies. She frequently presents at national conferences and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Williamson’s professional engagement includes delivering professional development to schools and districts, advocating for systems-level changes in education, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to advance child and school health outcomes.
