Dr. Lauren Kelly is an Associate Professor in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba's Max Rady College of Medicine. She holds positions as a scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba (CHRIM) and clinical trialist at the George and Fay Yee Centre for Healthcare Innovation. Her research focuses on pediatric and maternal health, with emphasis on cannabinoids, opioid exposures during pregnancy, and clinical trial methodologies.
Dr. Kelly leads the Clinical Pharmacology Lab and serves as Scientific Director of the Canadian Collaborative for Childhood Cannabinoid Therapeutics (C4T). She also directs the pan-Canadian IMPaCT training network for maternal and pediatric clinical trials. Her work involves interdisciplinary collaboration with healthcare providers, policymakers, and families to advance evidence-based practices.
Research Interests include cannabinoid therapeutics in children, neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, drug safety during lactation, and maternal-child health outcomes. Her lab's projects address gaps in understanding cannabis use in pediatric populations and opioid-related risks in pregnancy.
Dr. Kelly has received multiple awards, including CIHR grants and recognition for early career contributions to pediatric research. She advises national and international organizations on clinical trials and cannabis policy, advocating for improved access to evidence-based treatments for children.
