Lauren Hindman is an Assistant Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship in the Frank G. Zarb School of Business at Hofstra University. Her research and teaching focus on organizational behavior, sport management, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), with a critical lens on equity issues in the sport industry.
Education:

Dr. Hindman’s research centers on how organizational structures and discourses affect marginalized employees in sports. Key areas include occupational segregation, wage disparities, inequities in downsizing, and media representation of Black and queer women in basketball. She uses critical discourse analysis and gendered/racialized organizational theories to examine systemic inequities throughout the employee life cycle.
Her recent publications appear in top journals such as the Journal of Sport Management and European Sport Management Quarterly. The body of her research reflects a strong commitment to social justice, intersectionality, and institutional reform in sport organizations. Her work spans topics including LGBTQ+ inclusion, Title IX impacts, athlete activism, and media framing of marginalized groups.

Dr. Hindman teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including Introduction to Management, Organizational Behavior and Leadership Skills, Sports & Entertainment Management, and internship courses. She brings over a decade of professional experience from working with professional sports teams, enriching her academic perspective with practical insights.
