معرفی
Laura van Oploo is an Assistant Professor at Tilburg Law School’s Department of Criminal Law, affiliated with Tilburg University’s Crime, Criminal Justice and Vulnerability Theory research group. She holds dual external roles as Senior researcher at the Nederlands Instituut voor Forensische Psychatrie en Psychologie (NIFP) and Chair of the Complaints Committee (Commissie van Toezicht PI). Her work bridges legal theory and empirical research, focusing on forensic risk assessment ethics, legal terminology debates, and criminal justice policy.
Her research interests emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to criminal law, including forensic science applications, human rights compliance in legal frameworks, and vulnerability theory’s role in criminal justice systems. Recent publications critically examine risk assessment methodologies, the use of ‘race’ in legal contexts, and gender identity policy reforms.
Key projects include analyses of police collaboration strategies and legal remedy frameworks. While currently no students are listed, she actively contributes to Tilburg’s academic community through courses on penitentiary law, advanced criminal law, and legal thesis supervision. Her work often intersects with parliamentary science policy evaluations, as seen in reports on equality legislation reforms.
Laura van Oploo’s contributions span academic publications, expert testimony, and policy advising, reflecting her commitment to advancing equitable and evidence-based legal practices. She is based at Tilburg’s Montesquieu Building and accessible via email.
