Laura Uribarri

Laura Uribarri is an Associate Professor at the UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, based in El Paso. She is affiliated with the Management, Policy & Community Health Department and plays a key role in the development of the MPH-Healthcare Management program. Her research focuses on environmental health, transboundary natural resource policy, and air quality management.

  • Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (with honors) from Stanford University
  • Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School at UT Austin
  • Master of Arts in History and Ph.D. in Borderlands History from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP)

Professional Background: Prior to her current role, Laura served as Assistant Dean for the College of Business at UTEP, where she expanded the Accelerated MBA and launched the Executive MBA. She also held leadership positions at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of Government Relations, as Assistant to El Paso Mayor Joe Wardy, and as Senior Government Affairs Representative for El Paso Electric, managing multi-state legislative agendas in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington D.C.
