Laura Sochas

Laura Sochas is a Visiting Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute (III) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Oxford. She focuses on the interplay between power structures, institutions, and social policies in shaping health inequalities, particularly through a critical feminist lens.

Research Interests: Laura’s work bridges health inequalities, global health, and political economy. She employs quantitative and mixed methods to explore Reproductive Justice, maternal health in the Global South, and the effects of migration policies on parental rights and health. Her analyses often integrate intersectionality and feminist theories to challenge categorical approaches in social science research.

Grants & Projects: Her current project, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, investigates how migration and family policies in Europe create stress, stigma, and health disparities for parents. Prior work includes studies on collective bargaining, indirect mortality effects of epidemics, and health facility rules influencing maternal care access.
