Almudena Sevilla is a Professor of Economic and Social Policy at the London School of Economics (LSE), holding leadership roles such as Founding Chair of the Royal Economic Society UK Women in Economics Network and Director of the LSE Women in Social and Public Policy Research Hub. She holds a Ph.D. in family and population economics from Brown University (2004). Her research focuses on gender economics, household dynamics, labor markets, migration, and time-use patterns, with emphasis on intergenerational inequality and policy implications.
She has held academic positions at institutions including University College London, Oxford, and the Congressional Budget Office. Recognized with the CBE for contributions to economics and the Marie J. Langlois Prize for doctoral work on gender economics, her work appears in American Economic Review and Journal of Labor Economics. She leads the ERC-funded PARENTIME project exploring mechanisms of intergenerational inequality transmission through parental time investments.
Teaching includes the SP111 Social Economics and Policy course. Her recent work addresses pandemic impacts on work-family balance, gender wage gaps, and policy interventions like pay transparency in universities. She serves on editorial boards of Feminist Economics and Review of the Economics of the Household.
