Laura Salonen

Laura Salonen is a Researcher at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) and serves as Principal Investigator for the COFforH2 project within the Nanotechnologies program area of the UT Austin Portugal Program. She maintains dual institutional offices at INESC TEC in Porto, Portugal (Rua Dr. Roberto Frias, 4200-465) and The University of Texas at Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering (301 East Dean Keeton Street, C2100).

Her research concentrates on nanotechnology applications for hydrogen storage systems, specifically through covalent organic frameworks development as indicated by the COFforH2 project. This work falls under the broader domains of advanced materials engineering and sustainable energy technologies within the UT Austin Portugal Program's Phase 3 (2018-2024) and Phase 4 (2025-2030) initiatives.

As a Principal Investigator, she contributes to the strategic nanotechnology research pillar alongside related projects including ExtreMed, GEMIS, MCTool21, NanoCatRed, NanoStim, SENTINEL, and Soft4Sense. Her work interfaces with the program's focus areas of clean energy and advanced computing through collaborative frameworks between Portuguese research institutions and UT Austin.
