Michael J Rose

Michael J Rose serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Natural Sciences, The University of Texas at Austin. He holds a dual institutional role as Principal Investigator for the COFforH2 project under the UT Austin Portugal Program, maintaining active research offices at both UT Austin's Cockrell School of Engineering and INESC TEC in Porto, Portugal.

His research focuses on nanotechnology and advanced materials chemistry, specifically developing covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for hydrogen storage applications. This work bridges the Nanotechnologies program area of the UT Austin Portugal collaboration, targeting sustainable energy solutions through molecular engineering of porous materials. His expertise spans materials synthesis, characterization, and energy-related applications within the broader context of clean energy research.

As Principal Investigator for COFforH2, Dr. Rose leads cross-institutional research efforts between UT Austin and Portuguese partners under Phase 3 (2018-2024) and Phase 4 (2025-2030) of the UT Austin Portugal Program. His work contributes to strategic research priorities in nanotechnologies and clean energy, facilitating international research exchanges and collaborative innovation between U.S. and Portuguese scientific communities.
