Laura Owen is a Lecturer at the University of Worcester's Centre for Academic English and Skills. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Forensic and Applied Biology, having transitioned from a 17-year career in childcare (including international postings in Egypt and Portugal) to academia. Her academic journey at Worcester saw her volunteer in West Mercia Police's Forensic Enhancement Laboratory and later secure a role as a Forensic Scene Investigator with West Midlands Police before pursuing her current academic role. Her teaching focuses on academic English, pedagogy, and supporting students in higher education.
