Georgina Handley serves as Lecturer in Crime Scene Investigation at Keele University's Lennard-Jones School of Chemical and Physical Sciences within the Forensic Science department. She holds the position of Deputy Programme lead for Careers & Employability and maintains an active teaching role since her appointment in 2020.
Her educational background includes a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Science from Staffordshire University (2009). Prior to academia, she accumulated 10 years of practical field experience as a Forensic Scene Investigator with West Midlands Police, where she earned qualifications in Crime Scene Investigation and Practical Fire Investigation.
Research interests center on innovative forensic methodologies, particularly virtual crime scene applications for education and geoforensic techniques for cold case investigations. Her recent publications demonstrate applied research bridging practical policing experience with academic instruction, focusing on virtual training environments and geoforensic search methodologies for murder victim recovery.
Georgina actively contributes to the Forensic Geoscience Research Group and teaches core forensic modules including Forensic Science Skills and Practice (FSC-10001), Forensic Identification and Investigation (FSC-10005), Criminalistic Methods (FSC-20001), and Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence (FSC-30005).
