Laura Napolitano, PhD, is Chair and Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice at Rutgers–Camden. Her research examines how daily family experiences shape social stratification patterns through cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
- Education: PhD and MA in Sociology from University of Pennsylvania; BS in Sociology from Saint Joseph’s University
She investigates structural limitations faced by low- and middle-income families, focusing on adolescents' interactions with criminal justice and child welfare systems. Her methodological expertise spans mixed-methods research, community-engaged scholarship, and policy analysis.
