Laura Murray is a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, affiliated with the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics since 2017. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in lower limb prosthetics with specialization in paediatric, transtibial, and transfemoral interventions, while actively accepting PhD students.
Education:
- BSc Hons in Prosthetics and Orthotics, University of Strathclyde (2005)
- PGDip in Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Higher Education, University of Strathclyde (2019)
- TQUK LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY (2024)
Research Focus: Her work spans pedagogical research on clinical placements, gait analysis for prosthetic interventions, activity monitoring in amputees, and advanced socket design technologies. She integrates sustainable development principles into prosthetics education and practice.
Publication Trends: Recent 2025 works emphasize technology integration in clinical practice (CAD for transtibial sockets) and educational psychology in prosthetics training, revealing dual trends toward digital fabrication and mental health support for practitioners.
Supervision & Funding: As Principal Investigator, she leads the active project "Investigating microbial contamination in prosthetic liners" (2024-2026) and completed "Analysis of transtibial gait rotation" (2023-2024), securing internal university funding while supervising student research.
Professional Integration: She collaborates within the National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics on NHS-linked clinical governance initiatives and presents findings at international forums like the ISPO World Congress.
