Laura Mitchell is a Senior Lecturer at the University of York's School for Business and Society, specializing in critical perspectives on management, organizational behavior, ethics, and workplace dignity. She holds a PhD in Management from Lancaster University and an MA in Human Resource & Knowledge Management. Her research explores the intersections of work, play, and meaning, including current projects on gamification in higher education.

Research focuses on organizational values as expressed through culture, particularly in boundary-spanning organizations that challenge commercial priorities. Key interests include workplace dignity, relational ethics, creative research methods, and the sociology of work-play dynamics. Her work employs ethnographic approaches and critical social theory to examine morality, valuation practices, and conflict in diverse organizational contexts.
Publications demonstrate strong interdisciplinary engagement across management studies, game theory, and cultural sociology. Recent work examines dignity frameworks through relational sociology, gamified pedagogy in higher education, and ethical dimensions of organizational practices.
