Laura Kromjak is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Global and Development Studies, Institute of Political and International Studies, Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary. She teaches courses on migration, international development, and European Union-related topics, with a regional focus on the Western Balkans.

Her research explores intergenerational trauma in refugee communities, memory politics, and post-war reconciliation, particularly in divided societies. She investigates crisis migration and post-war family dynamics, emphasizing challenges faced by elderly populations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora.
Recent work includes the co-edited book Intergenerational Trauma in Refugee Communities (Routledge, 2024), which examines transgenerational trauma through interdisciplinary lenses. Earlier publications address reconciliation frameworks and trauma transmission in post-genocide communities.

She served as a European Representative to the Center for Bosnian Studies at Fontbonne University, USA, and contributes to global scholarship on refugee and post-conflict studies.
