معرفی
Laura Huttunen is a Professor in Social Anthropology at Tampere University's Unit of Social Research, Faculty of Social Sciences. Her work focuses on transnational anthropology, migration, and the impact of violent pasts, particularly among the Bosnian diaspora. She has conducted ethnographic research in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Finland since the early 2000s.
Her research emphasizes the politics of disappearances in contexts ranging from wartime Bosnia to modern migration flows. Key projects include 'Governance and grieving: Disappearing migrants and emergent politics' (Academy of Finland, 2018–2022) and 'Absence and liminality: Missing persons and the social order' (University of Tampere, 2012–2014). She has also explored transnational networks within the Bosnian diaspora via funding from the Academy of Finland (2005–2007).
Her research interests include missing persons, diaspora studies, and ethnographic methods applied to migration. Themes of liminality, collective memory, and the interplay between politics and cultural practices recur in her work. Recent publications address migrant disappearances, post-war societies, and the anthropology of disappearance.
Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with applied research on human rights, humanitarian crises, and transnational governance. Projects often involve collaborations with global institutions and fieldwork in conflict-affected regions.
