Laura Kraning is an experimental non-fiction filmmaker and Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Study at the University at Buffalo within the College of Arts and Sciences. Her work explores the intersection of nature, technology, and memory through immersive visual and sonic landscapes.
- Education: MFA in Film and Video from California Institute of the Arts.
Kraning’s research focuses on cinematic landscape, the technological sublime, and experimental documentary practices, blending abstract cinematography, archival media, and sound design to evoke subconscious cultural memories. Her films have premiered at venues including MoMA’s Doc Fortnight, International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Centre Pompidou.
