Laura Kocksch is an Assistant Professor at Aalborg University’s Department of Culture and Learning, part of The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. She is affiliated with The Techno-Anthropology Lab and MASSHINE, focusing on the socio-technical dynamics of cybersecurity, digital infrastructures, and repair practices. Her research bridges Science and Technology Studies (STS), Anthropology, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), emphasizing how humans navigate insecure technologies. A notable contribution is her 2024 monograph *Fragile Computing: How To Live With Insecure Technologies*, exploring societal adaptations to technological vulnerabilities.
Her teaching integrates ethnographic fieldwork, digital methods, and participatory design, including courses on cybersecurity ethics, feminist STS, and data storytelling. She has co-supervised participatory data ethnographies, fostering student engagement with real-world data challenges. Beyond academia, she served as a board member of stsing e.V. (2020–2023) and collaborates with industry via projects like *Forskningssamarbejde med Erhvervsstyrelsen om Digital Sikkerhed*, addressing SME cybersecurity challenges through ethnographic insights.
Kocksch leads or co-leads multiple interdisciplinary projects, including *DigiBreak-Ethnographic Perspectives on Telecommunication Disruptions and Cyberattacks* (2024–2027) and *GE-AI: Generative Ethnographic AI* (2023), which explore AI’s role in prolonging ethnographic encounters. Her work often highlights the interplay between technical systems and human practices, advocating for care-oriented approaches to cybersecurity.
Her recent publications analyze cybersecurity in SMEs, generative AI in ethnography, and Arctic infrastructure breakdowns. While no explicit awards are listed, her active role in shaping cybersecurity discourse through teaching, research, and industry collaboration underscores her academic influence.
