Laura Hoemeke

Dr. Laura Hoemeke serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, bringing over 25 years of global health leadership experience including 15 years based in Francophone Africa. She operates as an independent consultant and senior consultant with Clear Outcomes, serving major clients like The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, Stanford University, and The G4 Alliance.

Her educational background includes:

• Doctorate in Health Policy and Management from UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health
• Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University
• Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University

Dr. Hoemeke's research spans health systems strengthening, health financing, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS programming with deep expertise in Francophone African contexts. Her work emphasizes decentralization, good governance, and community health approaches across sub-Saharan Africa.

She actively contributes to professional communities as a board member of the International Society of Systems and Complexity Sciences for Health and member of Health Systems Global. Dr. Hoemeke teaches PUBH 718 – Systems and Design Thinking for Public Health Leaders, integrating her field experience with systems thinking methodologies for health leadership development.
