Laura Graham is a Senior Lecturer at Northumbria Law School within the Faculty of Business and Law at Northumbria University. She specializes in sex work and human rights, criminal law, and feminist legal theory. Her research explores the intersection of law, human rights, and marginalized communities, particularly in contexts such as sex work and bodily autonomy.
She holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham (2022) and prior degrees from Durham University (LLB, 2007; MA, 2009). Before joining Northumbria in 2017, she was a lecturer at Durham Law School. She is the Academic Lead on the Board of Trustees for National Ugly Mugs, a charity addressing violence against sex workers, and Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Gender, Sexuality and Law.
Laura’s teaching focuses on Criminal Law and Gender, Sexuality, and Law modules. She supervises PhD students in these areas and convenes the Law and Society Primary Research Group. Her recent grants include funding for the Socio-Legal Studies Association PGR Conference (2023–2024). Key publications include edited volumes on sex work and law, contributions to feminist legal theory, and analyses of legal frameworks impacting marginalized groups.
