Professor Susan Edwards is a distinguished academic and legal expert at Northumbria University, where she holds the rank of Professor of Law. She is also an Emerita Professor at the University of Buckingham, having previously served as Dean of Law for a decade. Her work spans domestic abuse, criminal justice reform, gender and law, and human rights. She actively contributes to policy and legal practice through roles as an Expert Witness, Trustee of Advance Charity, and member of the Bar Human Rights Committee.
Edwards has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles and numerous books, including seminal works on domestic violence and legal responses to gender-based violence. Her research emphasizes reforming legal defenses to better protect victims of domestic abuse and challenges gender biases in criminal law.
