Laura E Kunkel

Laura E Kunkel is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Texas at Arlington. She joined the faculty in 2017 and became Program Director of the Athletic Training Program in 2019. With expertise in Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Clinical Education, she contributes to curriculum development and interprofessional training for healthcare professionals.

• Master of Science (MS) in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from University of Florida (2006)
• Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Athletic Training & Exercise Science from Augustana University (2004)

Her research focuses on Interprofessional Education and the Preparation of Athletic Training Program Directors, with funded grants exploring societal transformation through IPE and child maltreatment response. She has presented globally on topics including team communication, clinical socialization, and interprofessional frameworks.

Dr. Kunkel serves as a peer reviewer for journals and committees, including the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). She also facilitates IPE initiatives at UNT Health and the Texas IPE Consortium.
