Dr. Laura Desimone is the L. Sandra and Bruce L. Hammonds Professor in Teacher Education and Director of Research at the University of Delaware's College of Education and Human Development. She holds secondary appointments in the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration and the School of Education. Her career includes roles at the University of Pennsylvania (2007–2018) and Vanderbilt University (2001–2007). She leads research on education policy, teacher development, and standards-based reforms.
Education Background: Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis from the University of North Carolina (1996), M.P.A. from American University (1991), and B.A. in American Studies from Wesleyan University (1990).
- Research Focus: Policies promoting equitable teaching practices, professional development, and curriculum reforms. Studies include teacher mentoring, school improvement strategies, and Common Core implementation.
