Dr Laura Denning is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Plymouth's School of Art, Design and Architecture. Her transdisciplinary practice spans film, sound, installation, and participatory art, with a focus on experimental geography and ecological concerns. She leads A Feminist Almanac of the Weather (British Academy-funded project) exploring weather as kinship lens, and created Ductus/A Braille Bestiary (Leverhulme Centre commission). Her work has been showcased globally including at London's Café OTO and international festivals.
Teaching focuses on BA Creative Media modules emphasizing experimental approaches to sound and scholarly research. Awards include multiple Arts Council England grants and collaborative initiatives like Cine Sisters SW CIC supporting gender-minority filmmakers. Current projects include co-organizing the 2025 'Island narratives of kinship, place, and the weather' conference with University of the Highlands and Islands.
Publications include contributions to Bloomsbury's 2023 climate-focused anthology and Geohumanities journal. Her creative works are archived in Borthwick and art.earth repositories. Collaborative platforms like A Sometimes Project and Sprite Arts reflect her commitment to experimental arts networks.
