Laura Bojarskaite is a Research Fellow at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the GLIA research group under the Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on sleep, astrocytes, brain waste clearance, and vascular dynamics. She holds a PhD from the University of Oslo, following a Master's in Pharmacy from the University of Copenhagen and a Bachelor's in Biochemistry from the University of Vilnius.
Her groundbreaking work includes developing a method to study brain cells during natural sleep, leading to discoveries about astrocyte roles in sleep quality and vascular dynamics during sleep. She has received notable awards, including the David S. Miller Prize and a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship from the Norwegian Society for Public Health.
Laura has trained students in advanced microscopy techniques and contributed to media discussions on sleep's role in preventing neurodegenerative diseases. Her research has been highlighted in journals like Nature Communications and media outlets such as VG and Dagens Medisin.
