Line Folvik is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo, within the Faculty of Social Sciences, and a core member of the Centre for Lifespan Changes in Brain and Cognition (LCBC). She conducts research for the AgeConsolidate project, investigating memory consolidation processes and their evolution across the lifespan with emphasis on sleep's role in neural memory storage.
Her educational background includes a Master in Science in Neuroscience (2015) and a Bachelor of Psychology (2013), both from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Folvik's research spans lifespan brain-cognition dynamics using multimodal neuroimaging, focusing on normal/pathological aging, neurodegenerative diseases, and sleep-memory interactions. She also examines cognitive consequences of mild traumatic brain injuries and immunological-psychological health links, bridging cognitive neuroscience with clinical applications for understanding memory across human development.
Her 2019-2025 publications reveal consistent investigation into hippocampal-cortical connectivity during memory processes, age-related neural changes, and consolidation mechanisms. Using advanced neuroimaging, she analyzes how these processes vary from childhood to old age and are disrupted in aging/neurodegeneration, contributing to cognitive neuroscience through large-scale lifespan studies.
As a Doctoral Research Fellow, Folvik actively contributes to the AgeConsolidate project and longitudinal study 'Biological predictors for memory,' participating in grant-funded research. She is integral to the LCBC group, which employs interdisciplinary approaches to study brain-cognition development and decline across the lifespan.
