Laura Bock is a Lecturer and Teaching Assistant in the Department of Music and Human Learning at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is also pursuing a Ph.D. in Music and Human Learning. She holds a Master of Music from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University, with concentrations in music education and flute performance.
Her teaching experience includes roles as Assistant Band Director at Blue Valley Southwest High School (2017–2022), where she instructed students from grades 5–12, and as a co-conductor for the Wind Ensemble program of Harmony Project KC, providing free music education to urban youth. Earlier, she taught 5th and 6th-grade band in Virginia and performed with the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra.
Bock’s research interests focus on music education methodologies, early childhood music instruction, and equitable access to music programs in urban environments. She has been recognized for her contributions with the 2020–2021 Outstanding Young Music Educator award in eastern central Kansas.
She currently teaches courses such as Techniques of Woodwind Performance, Techniques of Brass Performance, and Supervised Teaching in Music. Her work emphasizes hands-on pedagogical approaches and community engagement through music education initiatives.
