Laura Anne Rose

Professor Laura Anne Rose serves as Associate Professor of Law and Heidepriem Trial Advocacy Fellow at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law. She teaches Evidence and Trial Techniques, advises the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, and leads the National Trial Team as Head Coach. She represents Region 12 (covering North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin) on the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators Board of Directors.

Her educational background includes:

• JD from Stetson University College of Law (2012)
• BA in Political Science from Stetson University (2009)

Research interests focus on:

• Educational Psychology applications in legal education
• Millennial/Generation Z student engagement strategies
• Confrontation rights in virtual trial settings

Her scholarly work centers on bridging doctrinal knowledge with practical skills, particularly through evidence course design. The award-winning article Advocacy in Action demonstrates how educational psychology principles enhance bar passage readiness and practice-oriented training, reflecting her commitment to modernizing legal pedagogy for contemporary student needs.

Professor Rose actively mentors through National Trial Team coaching and advising Delta Tau Phi and Women in Law organizations. She expands USD's advocacy program through national competitions and partnerships with South Dakota judges who provide guest judging expertise for competition preparation.
