Laura Alfaro is the Warren Alpert Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Since joining Harvard in 1999, she has contributed extensively to international economics and finance, with a focus on capital flows, foreign direct investment, and sovereign debt. She served as Minister of National Planning and Economic Policy in Costa Rica from 2010–2012, taking a leave of absence from HBS. Her academic leadership includes editorial roles at the Journal of International Economics and the World Bank Research Observer, and she is Vice-President of the Latin American and Caribbean Economist Association (LACEA).
