Lau Chak-Sing

Lau Chak-Sing is the Dean of Medicine and Daniel CK Yu Professor of Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong (HKUMed). He has held leadership roles including Chairperson of the Department of Medicine (2019–2022), Chief of Service at Queen Mary Hospital (2018–2022), and President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (2016–2020).

• Current affiliations: Dean of HKUMed, Professor of Medicine, and active committee member across Hong Kong’s health sector.
• Past roles: Director of Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education (2010–2018), Chair of Rheumatology at University of Dundee (2007–2009), and President of Asia-Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (2006–2008).

His research focuses on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), cellular immune-dysregulation, clinical trials, and treatment outcomes in rheumatic diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthritis. He has pioneered collaborative networks such as the Asia Pacific Lupus Collaboration (2011) and established the Hong Kong Arthritis & Rheumatism Foundation (2001).
