Dimitrios Boumpas

Dimitrios Boumpas is a renowned Professor of Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he chaired the Fourth Department of Medicine (2012–2016). He also served as an Affiliated Investigator at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens and previously led the Divisions of Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, and Clinical Immunology at the University of Crete (1999–2012), directing its Graduate Program on Molecular Basis of Human Diseases. His research spans rheumatology, clinical immunology, and genomic medicine, focusing on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and inflammatory arthritis.
