Lars Willnat is the John Ben Snow Endowed Research Professor at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications. His research examines global journalism practices, media effects on political attitudes, and comparative media systems.
Research Focus: Willnat leads cross-national studies on public perceptions of media in democracies, political polarization's impact on journalism, and the work of foreign correspondents. He directs the decadal 'American Journalist' project analyzing the demographic and professional evolution of U.S. journalists.
Honors: Recipient of the Sigma Delta Chi Award for his book 'The American Journalist in the Digital Age' and Fulbright scholarships to Malaysia and South Korea. Serves on editorial boards of leading communication journals including Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly.
