Lars Bernfort is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and the Department of Health, Medicine and Care (HMV) as well as the Department of Society and Health (SH). His research focuses on health economics, particularly health economic evaluations, chronic pain management in the elderly, and strategies for return to work after sick leave. He is also involved in studies on negative QALY weights, early treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (TIRA), intralymphatic immunotherapy for allergies, and user-directed hospitalization for mental health crises.
His work often intersects with healthcare policy, decision-making, and prioritization in healthcare systems. He teaches in the first semester of the medical program and supervises the Health-Ethics-Learning (HEL 1) course. Affiliations include the Health and Medical Services Analysis Unit (HSA) and the Center for Medical Technology Assessment (CMT).
