Larry Marshall is an adjunct professor at Lebanon Valley College, where he serves as the drum set instructor, director of the small jazz ensemble, and co-teacher for the graduate program 'Beginning Methods and Pedagogy for Drums (Modern Band)'. He is also an adjunct faculty member at The Hill School and a drum set instructor and director of the percussion ensemble at High Street Music Co. in Pottstown, PA.
Larry earned his foundational education in music at West Chester University, where he began his recording and touring career in 1983. After a successful six-year tenure in Japan, including a role as Jazz Drum instructor at Azul Jazz Academy and an endorsement from Sakae Drums, he returned to the U.S. to continue his teaching and performance career.
His research interests and expertise span Jazz, Music Education, Percussion, Drumming Techniques, and Modern Band Pedagogy. He integrates these areas into his teaching and clinic work, emphasizing both technical mastery and ensemble collaboration.
His accolades include the Jazz Musician of the Year award from the Kansai Music Conference in 2012. Larry has collaborated with renowned artists like Randy Brecker, Kevin Mahogany, and Othello Molineaux, and remains a sought-after recording and touring artist across multiple genres.
He actively conducts clinics and master classes in the U.S. and abroad, sharing his expertise in jazz drumming and modern band education. His career bridges academic instruction, performance, and industry engagement.
