Lara Boland is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney, specializing in Feline Medicine and Small Animal Internal Medicine. She holds dual specialist credentials: European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Small Animal Medicine) and FANZCVS (Feline Medicine). A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), she combines clinical expertise with academic teaching and research.
Education: BVSc (Honours I) from the University of Sydney (2004). Completed internships at the Animal Referral Hospital (Sydney) and University of Bristol (UK), followed by an International Cat Care-sponsored residency in small animal medicine at the University of Bristol. Joined the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney in 2013 before transitioning to academia in 2018.
Research focuses on genetic disorders in cats (e.g., xanthinuria) and canine chronic enteropathy. Key contributions include biomarker discovery for feline diabetes and proteomic analysis in gastrointestinal diseases. Active in teaching veterinary medicine and clinical diagnostics.
