Lance Saunders is the Jerry & Suzanne Ratledge Professor of Supply Chain Management and Vallett Family Faculty Fellow at the University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business. He holds a joint affiliation with the Supply Chain Management Center and the Global Supply Chain Institute. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Management Systems from Virginia Tech (2013), alongside earlier degrees from the University of Tennessee: a B.S. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering, and an MBA in New Product Development/Integrated Value Chain Management (2001–2003).
Research interests focus on supply chain resilience, sustainability, product variety optimization, and operational agility. His work addresses challenges in logistics, environmental partnerships, and pandemic-driven risk mitigation. Recent studies explore driver engagement in rideshare/delivery sectors and closed-loop supply chains in automotive industries.
