Lan Zhou

Lan Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a Member of the Immune Oncology Program at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. She also serves as the Director of the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. Dr. Zhou holds an MD from Shanghai Medical University (1991) and a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology from SUNY Buffalo (1996). Her postdoctoral training was conducted at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, University of Michigan, focusing on Notch signaling in hematopoiesis. Her clinical expertise spans transfusion medicine and molecular diagnostics.

Her research investigates Notch signaling pathways in hematopoietic stem cell regulation, leukemia microenvironments, and inflammation-driven colorectal cancer. Key projects include studying Notch2's role in HSC quiescence, fucosylation in colitis pathogenesis, and pancreatic cancer biomarkers (e.g., CRABP-II). She employs advanced techniques such as genetically modified models, scRNA-seq, and spatial profiling of human tissues.

Dr. Zhou's work has been published in journals like Nature, Blood, and Cancer Research. Her lab focuses on translational applications of molecular diagnostics in infectious diseases and oncology. She is board-certified in Clinical Pathology/Transfusion Medicine and Molecular Genetic Pathology.
