Lamiece Hassan, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester’s Division of Psychology & Mental Health. Her work focuses on leveraging real-world data to improve individual and population health, with a particular emphasis on mental health, digital health technologies, and public engagement. She currently leads the 'Dean’s Prize Research Fellowship' exploring wearable devices for remote health monitoring in mental illness patients. Previously, she held a UKRI fellowship with Health Data Research UK, analyzing social media data to understand public health perceptions.
Her qualifications include a PhD in Psychiatry, an MPhil in Psychology, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology. Key research interests include citizen science, co-production, and ethical use of health data. She has contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to Healthier Futures and Digital Futures.
Research highlights include systematic reviews on telemedicine efficacy, wearable technologies in severe mental illness, and digital mental health innovations. Her work bridges clinical practice and technology, with over 69 peer-reviewed publications and 2 notable awards for social responsibility and public engagement.
Collaborations span interdisciplinary teams in digital health, epidemiology, and public policy. Current projects include the e-PHIT initiative, enhancing physical health interventions for mental health patients. Hassan actively engages in media and public discourse on health data ethics and digital health transformation, with 9 media contributions since 2019.
