Chelsea Sawyer

Chelsea Sawyer is a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester's Division of Psychology & Mental Health. Her work focuses on digital health interventions for mental health conditions, particularly in young people and those with severe mental illness. She joined the e-PHIT team in 2021 to develop mixed-methods approaches for promoting physical health via digital tools.

Education: PhD in Biopsychosocial correlates of hearing aid use (University of Manchester, 2019). Research interests include behavior change, questionnaire development, and patient engagement. She has contributed to projects like the ELDERS study on cancer patient outcomes and the validation of health assessment tools.

Recent research highlights include systematic reviews on wearable devices for mental health monitoring and qualitative studies on healthcare professional perspectives. She leads projects funded until 2028 and has received the 2023 Jean Klasterky Award for her contributions to mental health research.
