Laila Y. Sanguras is a Senior Lecturer at the Baylor University School of Education and Graduate Program Director of the EdD in Learning and Organizational Change. She earned a B.S. in Education from Western Oregon University, an MSEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Research from the University of North Texas.

Her research focuses on psychosocial skill development in education, particularly grit and coping mechanisms, alongside equity in gifted program identification. She actively collaborates with school districts and parent organizations to bridge research and practice.
Recent activities include participation in 2U’s Diversity Workshop and Baylor’s Seeing White discussion, alongside co-facilitating DEIB initiatives for EdD-LOC faculty.

As a faculty advisor for Cohort 9, Dr. Sanguras mentors students in mixed methods research and educational evaluation projects.
