Laila Marie Kristoffersen

Laila Marie Kristoffersen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health and Nursing, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her work focuses on neonatal pain management and maternal-infant health.

• Education: PhD in Clinical Medicine (NTNU, 2019), Master in Health Sciences (NTNU, 2011), Specialization in Intensive Care Nursing (NTNU, 2002).

Research Interests: Laila's primary research explores pain and stress-reducing interventions for preterm and sick newborns, emphasizing skin-to-skin contact and sucrose dosing. Her work spans clinical trials, qualitative maternal studies, and physiological stability investigations.

Academic Contributions: Her publications include systematic reviews, RCTs, and protocols addressing preterm infant care. She leads multinational collaborations and is project leader for the PROPER study (Norway/Canada) on retinopathy screening.

Teaching: She teaches specialized nursing courses and supervises master's students. She also co-supervised her PhD project with Håkon Bergseng and Ragnhild Støen.
