Ladin Bayurgil is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Turkish-German University, affiliated with the Faculty of Cultural and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on urban sociology, labor sociology, and economic sociology, particularly exploring precarious labor, platform work, and urban transformation dynamics in Istanbul and beyond. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Boston University (2021) and a double major in Sociology and International Relations from Boğaziçi University (2014).

Her work analyzes how urban elites navigate growth coalitions, the precarity of platform workers, and the intersections of labor and housing insecurity. Notable projects include a European Research Council-supported study on digital labor platforms across Europe and research on Istanbul’s earthquake-driven urban transformation policies. She has published in journals like Journal of Political Sociology, City, and Social Problems.
Current research interests include labor market dynamics in platform economies, urban inequality, and the sociopolitical dimensions of urban development in authoritarian neoliberal contexts.
